Broken

This one's just for Brandi, because I love her...very, very, very, very, very, very much...and she is AMAZING...and we're getting married...we haven't set a date yet...haha, j/k, but seriously, we're gonna...;)

Psalm 130

1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD;

 2 O Lord, hear my voice.
       Let your ears be attentive
       to my cry for mercy.

 3 If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins,
       O Lord, who could stand?

 4 But with you there is forgiveness;
       therefore you are feared.

 5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
       and in his word I put my hope.

 6 My soul waits for the Lord
       more than watchmen wait for the morning,
       more than watchmen wait for the morning.

 7 O Israel, put your hope in the LORD,
       for with the LORD is unfailing love
       and with him is full redemption.

 8 He himself will redeem Israel
       from all their sins.

This Psalm has just really hit me lately and it really describes how I've been feeling.  D-Now taught me a lot of things, but mostly that I'm nowhere near where I need to be spiritually.  I'm praying that God would really fill me with His passion and give that desire that I need to seek Him with all that I am, cuz Lord knows I haven't been lately.

Anyways, yet another long week of work and school...I think I did fairly well on the two tests that I had to take this week.  Valentine's Day (or Singles Awareness Day) passed without incident, which is not a good thing...Last night we had a Valentine's Day dinner at church which was a lot of fun...Well, I guess that's it...I'll try to update soon...

Well...it's been absolutely forever since I've updated, but here goes:

Not a whole heck of a lot going on actually...lots of school, lots of work...the usual. I got a new acoustic guitar over Christmas break..."It's a hellish concoction made from the bones of fornicaters and the sinew of theives. Uh.. it's a Fender"..(for all you Will Ferrell fans).  I'm learning to play...slowly, but I am learning.  I got to lead the Bible study at my church last night, so that was cool.  Everybody gave me the obligatory compliments and stuff, but I don't really think I did that well...I just hope that the Holy Spirit was able to work through me anyway.  I truly hope and pray that our youth group can begin to be set on fire by God and start a "revolution" of sorts in our church.

Anyways, Super Bowl Classic this Saturday...it's gonna be the best tournament we've ever had!  Also, the real Super Bowl this Sunday...give me Pittsburgh, 21-17.

Texas Longhorns 2005-2006 National Champions!!!  HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!

Last night I witnessed the greatest college football and maybe the greatest football game ever.  Mack Daddy Brown and Geniuses Greg Davis and Gene Chizik flat out-coached Pete Caroll and his staff.  The Texas defense, after being torched all game by one of the greatest offenses I have ever seen, and after being completely deflated when they witnessed one of their best players go out with a badly broken arm, came out and made a heroic stop which ultimately decided the game.  But what am I saying?  That wasn't the deciding factor.  The coaches weren't the deciding factor.  Not even the terrible officiating on both sides was the deciding factor.  No, the final deciding factor was a man named Vince Young, who turned in the most dominant individual performance I have ever seen or heard of and proved once and for all that the Heisman voters were wrong.  In the end, it came down to one thing:  Texas had Vince Young and USC didn't.  Now after 35 years, more than half of which I have been here for, the University of Texas Longhorns can call themselves National Champions once again.  I will never forget last night as long as I live.

Psalm 86:

"1 Hear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. 2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you. 3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long. 4 Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. 5 You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you. 6 Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy. 7 In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me. 8 Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. 9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. 11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. 12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. 13 For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave."

This passage really spoke to me this morning.  God has really been trying to get my attention lately, and I have finally started listening these past couple days.  On Saturday night, and then again on Monday night, I got to talk with someone I hadn't talked to in what seems like forever.  She really encouraged me and made me realize how far I had fallen since we had last spoken.  Then, last night, as I was driving home, I heard "Jesus Take the Wheel" on the radio, and I just broke down and got real with God about where my walk with Him was.  Since then, God has begun the process of rebuilding me into the man He wants me to be.  I just want to encourage anyone reading this that, no matter how far away from God you think you are, He's standing right beside you, waiting for you to turn to Him.  No matter what you've done, no matter how bad things have gotten, just know that God wants to do something great in your life if you will let Him.

In other news:

Tonight's the night, ladies and gentlemen!  Tonight's the night that an unbelievable 34-game win streak comes to a screeching halt.  Tonight's the night when two former Heisman trophy winners get shown up by a runner-up.  Tonight's the night when "the greatest college football team in history" is exposed for what they really are: mortal.  And finally, tonight's the night when the Texas Longhorns win a National Championship for the first time in 35 years!  HOOK 'EM HORNS!
